Prince Philipâs former insurance plan officer has printed his son as soon as assumed that the Duke turned into "somebody from the pub"Â when he phoned the familyâs residence.
Richard Griffin, who spent over 30 years in insurance policy officer roles for the Royal household, told the BBC that the babyâs confusion resulted in an anecdote that the Duke used to "dine out on".
Mr Griffin said: "He rang up sooner or later and my five year-historical son answered the phone. He used to call me 'Dick'Â so he observed, 'am i able to speak to Dick please?'.
"He [his son] noted, 'Heâs in the garden, Iâll go and get him. Who shall I say is looking?' He [the Duke] pointed out, 'The Duke of Edinburgh'. He noted all he heard became my little boy yell out, âDad, can you come to the mobile, someone from the pub desires to speak to you!ââ
speaking almost immediately earlier than the Dukeâs funeral on Saturday, Mr Griffin observed that the Duke "wouldnât bother" phoning his residence via a switchboard, in its place ringing without delay.
Richard Griffin has the story.
