New Delhi, June sixteen : the coming together of ordinary artwork and modern design is really magical, isnt it? Sarees in Kantha deliver essentially the most beautiful embroidery on luscious Tussar fabric. Kantha is without doubt one of the oldest types of normal Indian embroidery.
Mumbai-based mostly gradual-vogue brand, Suta Bombay, currently launched their assortment Kantha Katha (The stories of Kantha), a spectacle of the wealthy embroidery tradition of "Kantha" from Bengal.
The assortment by sisters-turned-entrepreneurs Sujata Biswas and Taniya Biswas, presents a contemporary take on Kantha, impressed through the country visuals of a rural landscape. The mountains, the rivers, that one rugged street resulting in a hut, all of the facets that featured to your childhood drawing can now wrap you in wonderful nostalgia within the form of a saree.
The origins of this artwork go returned to Bengali households where ladies stitched patches of fabric along with distinctive colored threads from their sarees to create a kaleidoscope of pleasing patterns. It was an upcycling approach that became rooted in usual value systems of sustainability.
The assortment became conceived in Kolkata with a dressmaker working closely with a few artisans for over a month. as soon as the designs had been finalised, over 200 girls artisans worked their magic on the sarees. It took 7-eight months for the entire assortment to take full lifestyles and it is likely one of the brand's highlights.
Sujata says, "It takes each artisan 2-three weeks to create one saree. Some sarees have a splash of appliqué work as neatly. each piece is handmade brilliance at its most reliable and the heat in reality shines through. what is diverse with our collection is that we have re-imagined Kantha and created sarees that are as versatile as they are items of paintings."
